Accreditation

Globally Recognized Education and Academic Pathways

The American University of Indonesia (SU) is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition, SU is the first and only university in Indonesia and Southeast Asia (ASEAN) to achieve institutional accreditation from the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), one of the most prestigious accrediting bodies in the United States and the same accrediting body that also accredits leading U.S. universities such as Harvard University, Yale University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This recognition affirms that SU meets internationally recognized standards of academic quality, governance, student support, and continuous improvement.

Through its NECHE institutional accreditation, The American University of Indonesia delivers an American-style higher education experience in Indonesia, enabling students to pursue international academic pathways while remaining close to home. This accreditation strengthens the international recognition of SU's academic programs, facilitating greater opportunities for credit transfer or further studies at universities in the United States and other countries that recognize credits earned from institutions accredited by NECHE.

New International Pathways, Global Opportunities

The American University of Indonesia's curriculum is designed in alignment with the U.S. higher education system, allowing students to pursue globally recognized academic pathways and providing flexibility for transfer opportunities to universities abroad, subject to the receiving institution's transfer policies.

For students seeking an international degree, The American University of Indonesia offers the opportunity to complete an American-style higher education experience entirely in Indonesia. Through its NECHE institutional accreditation, students benefit from internationally recognized academic standards, a globally benchmarked learning experience, and academic pathways that support credit transfer, further study, and global mobility.

In addition, from Semester 5 through Semester 8, eligible students may pursue the International Two-Degree Program through The American University of Indonesia's partnership with the University of Arizona. This pathway enables students to earn both an International Degree (Sarjana) from The American University of Indonesia and a bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona while completing their studies entirely in Indonesia. Offered in Business and Engineering, the program provides graduates with diplomas and transcripts from both universities, strengthening their academic credentials and expanding opportunities for postgraduate study and careers worldwide.

The University of Arizona is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC),  as well as the American Association of Colleges and Schools of Business (AACSB) and is recognized globally for its academic excellence and research achievements.

Through its partnership with the University of Arizona and NECHE institutional accreditation, The American University of Indonesia offers students a seamless academic experience that combines internationally recognized quality standards with the accessibility of studying in Indonesia.
